Nitin Macwan is a seasoned development professional with over 24 years of experience in climate resilience, natural resource management (NRM), and agriculture-based livelihoods. He holds a graduate degree in Business Management and a master’s in social science from Sardar Patel University, Gujarat.
Nitin has led and contributed to several large-scale, multi-stakeholder programmes across Gujarat and South Asia, working with CSR foundations, government departments, and civil society organisations. His work spans climate-smart agriculture, community-led resilience building, rural livelihoods enhancement, and disaster risk reduction.
He has played a key leadership role in strengthening networks of NGOs across Gujarat working on natural resource management (NRM) and drinking water through several landmark initiatives. He is also a registered Mentor of Change under NITI Aayog’s flagship Atal Innovation Mission, supporting and guiding startups.
Nitin has also led regional climate resilience projects in Bangladesh and Nepal, with a strong focus on women-led urban and rural resilience, particularly through Gujarat Mahila Housing SEWA Trust.
Currently, he serves as Director – Special Projects at Cohesion Foundation, spearheading climate-smart agriculture and resilience programmes supported by Reliance Foundation, SWISSAID, NABARD, and others, while actively strengthening partnerships and NGO networks in the domains of agriculture, climate action, and natural resources.
